The Word is....Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen, Hasta La Vista, Nancy!

The same voting results map that was bluer than the water under the Bluewater Bridge in Michigan only two short years ago, was as red as the New Mexico earth on a clear summer day tonight as the Republicans rolled in to take over the House of Representatives.

I realized as I watched state after state in the House elections come in that someone would be leaving us...could it be? Was it possible? Was the Rambling Rose of the House of Representatives on her way out? (Strike up the "Hallelujah Chorus"!) If the Democrats want to point a finger tomorrow morning as to who had a hand in delivering votes to the Republicans on a Limoges plate last night, it  should be to this woman. I am referring to the soon-to-be former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Yes, Nancy of the "we-need-to-pass-the-Health-Reform-Bill-so-we-can-see-what's-in-it" fame.

Nancy, it won't be the same without you. It really won't. I am a big supporter of women from all Parties. (Usually.)  I was really happy when you made history. And then....I was gobsmacked. So were a lot of Americans.

And to reprise your most glorious performances, in honour of your leave-taking, here they are:

And the all-time classic moment of your sojourn:

I feel the fog clearing now...thankfully.
