Earthquake Hits New Zealand

Breaking news has reached us here in the UK that a 6.5 (plus) earthquake has just hit New Zealand. Earth changes are upon us and New Zealand had already suffered a severe quake last fall. News on the damage is just being assessed as I write this.

Apparently, the country was still attempting to rebuild from the earlier quake in the fall.  It is reported  that though the earthquake registered at a lower point than the earlier quake of September 2010, it was shallower and  therefore caused much more damage. Even with buildings that have very high standards and have been made to withstand earthquakes, hundreds of buildings crumbled under the shaking. At this writing, aftershocks are still being reported.
